Azienda Agricola Cornazzano
The Cornazzano farm, located in the village of Cervara in Baganzola in the province of Parma, has deep roots in the region.
Founded by Luca Cantoni’s grandfather, the company’s story started in the 1960s when his grandfather bought the house in 1959 after getting married. With passion and dedication, he built the cowshed “brick by brick”, running the business until ten years ago when Luca took over the farm.
His cousins Sara and Alice together with his aunt Giovanna help him manage the animals and fields every day.
His grandfather started with a farm of 60 cows, but they now have 160 milking cows and about 330 animals in total, all Friesian breed. This considerable increase shows the farm’s commitment and expertise in the sector.
The farm has 125 hectares, where they grow alfalfa, ryegrass, wheat and maize silage, therefore offering the animals a balanced diet.
Luca, Sara, Alice and Giovanna have made big changes to improve animal welfare, switching from tie stall rearing to free range. The farm is fitted with adequate ventilation systems and offers optimal space for calves and cows.
Luca decided to continue farming following in his grandfather’s footsteps, driven by his desire to keep on improving. For him, working in the Parmigiano Reggiano supply chain means guaranteeing a quality product, resulting from careful management and great commitment.
“Milk production is a complicated job and requires constant attention, because every detail influences the end result”.
The Cornazzano farm is an example of how tradition and innovation can coexist in the agricultural sector. Thanks to the commitment of Luca, Sara, Alice and Giovanna, the farm’s story is still being written, while always focusing on improving milk quality and animal welfare, therefore contributing to a more sustainable and responsible supply chain.
