OUR JOURNEY TOWARD SUSTAINABILITY CONTINUES WITH A NEW PHOTOVOLTAIC SYSTEM THAT ALLOWS US TO MEET 30% OF OUR ENERGY NEEDS

The system, installed at the Colline di Selvapiana e Canossa (RE) dairy, is a concrete response to the renewable energy investment plan reported in the sustainability report.

The activation of this 100KW/hour rated photovoltaic system, which has been inaugurated and is already in operation, enables us to produce 30% of our electricity needs ourselves.
Another concrete step in being increasingly sustainable.

“The investment is part of a broader strategy, as reported in our sustainability report, which sees energy efficiency among the fundamental and priority assets,” says the general manager, Andrea Guidi, “An orientation confirmed by a process started in 2022 of energy diagnosis of the two dairies owned by the company – Caseificio di Cigarello e Canossa and Caseificio Colline di Selvapiana e Canossa – and of the production site Dalter Alimentari S.p.A, with the aim of accelerating efforts in the energy transition to meet growing needs from a green perspective”.

A process that has allowed us to identify improvement actions, in terms of energy efficiency and cost, such as to further reduce the environmental impact.

In addition to these investments, we have continued our path toward sustainability, achieving other important goals. This includes the waste management strategy, such as those generated by plastic packaging, now reduced by 31% compared to 2021 levels. Also on this issue, which is complex and not without problems related to the variety of materials to be disposed of, our joint efforts continue in limiting their quantity and developing increasingly effective treatments.

Specifically, we still have three separate collection systems in place:

  • two compactors for plastic and cardboard;
  • large bags for the collection of PE (transparent polyethylene) monomaterial, i.e., a specific plastic with a special end-of-life procedure;
  • general non-riciclabile waste.

These systems allow us to separate waste, both in production areas and in offices, with a consequent increase in the share to be recovered and reused.

Concrete actions, therefore, in perfect coherence with the will and promise we all share to maintain a business style and management that is truly sustainable, from the quality and safety of the products we offer, to an inclusive approach geared toward ensuring internal well-being, to the responsible management of the entire supply chain.
