What Animal Welfare Means to Us
We have obtained voluntary certification for three consecutive years under the ClassyFarm protocol, and we work closely with our suppliers to explore new collaborations with veterinarians to further improve the certified animal welfare standards in our farms.

Animal Welfare
THE COMMITMENT OF THE ENTIRE SUPPLY CHAIN
The complexity of this certification extends beyond the milk collection phase, encompassing every step in the cheese production process. It begins with the 40 farms that supply the milk, continues through the Selvapiana and Cigarello dairies where it is processed, and into the aging warehouses where Parmigiano Reggiano slowly ‘matures’. This is followed by the cutting, portioning, and packaging at the Sant’Ilario d’Enza factory, and ends in the storage warehouses where the end product waits to be shipped out to Italy and around the world.

Animal Welfare
THE INVESTMENT WE BELIEVE IN
For us at DalterFood, animal welfare certification is an essential recognition that highlights the dedication of farmers, without whom this achievement would not have been possible. At the same time, this certification also rewards the commitment our Group has made to the entire supply chain, investing in both cheese factories and human resources, with an approach that is truly unique in the PDO Parmigiano Reggiano world.

CERTIQUALITY
Certiquality is a reference body for organisations wishing to certify their dairy products made from milk sourced from farms with animal welfare certification issued by the CReNBA. Certiquality, an independent third party, verifies that all the following conditions are met:
• freedom from hunger, thirst, and poor nutrition;
• freedom from environmental discomfort;
• freedom from disease and injury;
• freedom to express natural behaviour;
• freedom from fear and stress.

VOLUNTARY CERTIFICATION
Our Parmigiano Reggiano supply and production chain—cowsheds, farms and cheese factories—has obtained voluntary animal welfare certification issued by Certiquality according to the Classyfarm protocol, the national reference organisation for animal welfare. We passed an examination on four areas of the business:
• company and staff management,
• facilities and equipment,
• animal living conditions,
• biosafety
